Brea Sharron Estep
Integrative Health Practitioner
I help overwhelmed women to put the missing pieces together to reduce stress to illuminate their beauty inside out and FINALLY get their health and body back, holistically.
Brea Sharron Estep is an Integrative Health Practitioner, Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, business coach and author of Amazon Bestseller “Holistic Health Clean Eating Cookbook.” With over a decade of experience in the health and fitness industry, she uses her health struggles and education to teach and coach others who feel like they have tried every diet, every workout and/or every doctor, find the underlying root cause to finally get their health and body back holistically.
Brea was born and raised in Greensboro NC where she graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with her bachelor’s in business and became the owner of Foundation Fitness studio for 8.5 years. Brea recently moved to Morehead City NC with her husband Tim and two pups, to enjoy living their best life at the beach. She is proud to represent her home state as Mrs. North Carolina United States and now Mrs. United States 2021-2022 where she promotes her platform, her non profit Youth Fitness Link. Which shares her life’s mission statement “build health positive relationships on the inside and out in order to combat adolescent obesity and teach healthy lifestyle changes.”
Brea's Story:
"Growing up in North Carolina, I was always “healthy-ish” and active dancing my way from age three to college, with a few other sports sprinkled in, my parents always made sure we were as healthy as they knew how, making my brother and I eat our vegetables, drink milk, only buy wheat bread, only allowing very limited soda and sweets as a “treat.”
Around my junior year of high school I was still taking dance lessons as well as began teaching dance and started having back pain and saw about ten different doctors and specialists until my regular MD prescribed me prescription painkillers daily. During my senior year I was recommended for ADD/ADHD testing, which I apparently passed with flying colors, and was put on another prescription for, which led to an anti-depressant and an anti-anxiety prescription just to be safe (somewhat fortunately I never remembered and didn’t really care to take those). Throughout college I continued on the ADD/ADHD prescriptions as well as the prescription pain killers, then yet another doctor added in birth control to make my horrible periods more manageable.
In my early twenties, I began personal training, competing and winning in fitness shows and realized it probably wasn’t a good thing to “need” medicine to pay attention and/or prescription narcotics daily to get going, and birth control never made my periods more manageable anyways, so I managed to use prescriptions only as needed when the pain was unbearable. Looking back, although fitness shows are nowhere near healthy, especially staying under 14% body fat, by being low fat, low carb and high protein and loaded with artificial sweeteners for over five years, I did realize how much better I felt cutting out refined sugars and preservatives.Â
That's when it all changed.
Fast forward a few years to a hot scorcher summer day in North Carolina, and I had just finished my afternoon shift at work and it took me a little bit more than a lot of effort to get out of my car and and then there I was standing at the bottom of the stairs to my front door and I realized I physically didn’t think I could make it up that one flight of stairs…
Not only was I mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted, (as I sure most of you have felt as well) I hated the person I saw in the mirror. Physically I hurt, I gained 30 lbs in three months, still doing all the “right” things: low carb, no sugar, cardio and weights 6 days a week… I owned a gym. I was an imposter… How could I help others if I couldn’t help myself… and I emotionally and mentally hated myself for that… not being good enough… I was miserable and embarrassed, and I took it out on everyone like and emotional wrecking ball on all my relationships.
Over the years I was challenged to take out artificial sweeteners and noticed a tremendous difference in my body aches, energy and digestive issues, which led me to research true all natural, nontoxic health even deeper and creating a passion after my “healthy” father suffered and passed away from a brain tumor in his early 50s.Â
However I was still dealing with my own health struggles, with chronic pain from fibromyalgia, scoliosis, nerve damage, arthritis and tendonitis, the unexplained weight gain, digestive issues, anxiety, depression, and thyroid, adrenal and hormonal issues that rounded out “a decade plus of Doctors, drugs (rx) and diagnoses” with an endometriosis, a PCOS diagnosis and later a term that I avoided for years, infertility… After years of dealing with horribly painful periods, that birth control didn’t even really help (but made me completely crazy) I kept bugging my doctor for answers and after finding cysts on my ovaries (PCOS) on an ultrasound, she prescribed metformin, not reading charts and not realizing I had hypoglycemia- low blood sugar (yes, it can help stabilize blood sugar but usually prescribed for hyperglycemia- high blood sugar, which is a common symptom of PCOS, but a symptom I didn't have and at the time was relatively new and my google trails had only led me to how dangerous it could be for individuals with already low blood sugar.) So after my “research” on why she prescribed metformin, as well as why I had PCOS, which is “from” high androgens, yet all my symptoms aligned with endometriosis, estrogen dominance, she asked me to come back into her office. Which still didn’t me any answers only her seemingly upset I would questions and “well then” I didn’t have to take the meds… and then I got a $200 bill for the “conversation”. Later the best response I got was “well we can do exploratory surgery since you don’t want to take birth control” (as I was recently married and looking to have a baby in the not to distant future… Exploratory surgery… you want to to cut me open to see if you can even find anything? Ummm no thank you….
I finally had enough and I got mad and decided to fight back. Failure was not an option. I was doing so many of the “right” things (no sugar, low carb, working out 6 days a week with cardio and weights), there’s no way I could have all this stuff wrong with me… But I didn’t know what to do, where to go, or even who to trust… So I spent hours, turned days, turned weeks turned months going down google rabbit hole trails just trying to find someone else struggling like I was.Â
Which is where I first heard about integrative health that isn’t just traditional western medicine (but actually isn’t completely against all western medicine) which includes functional medicine, ayurvedic medicine, traditional chinese medicine, naturopathy, homeopathy, chiropractic etc … but I didn’t know anyone who did any of this… or where to find them… So I decided, in true classic Brea fashion, I would just do it myself and become an Integrative Health Practitioner and figure out what the heck was wrong with me. So that’s just what I did in 2018!
After looking at things from a holistic perspective and (finally) finding out what (all) was wrong with me- my exact toxicities- specifically candida/bacterial/yeast overgrowth and heavy metal toxicities as well as thyroid adrenal and hormonal imbalances, my specific vitamin and mineral deficiencies, and my specific sensitives to avoid, I’ve learned to manage the internal and external stress on my body in order rebalance it “whole-istically.” I no longer take any medicine, maintain my ideal weight with ease, have drastically improved my digestion and mood. I also am mostly pain free (despite some self inflicted pain from pretty tough workouts).Â
So now I've made it my mission and life's work to give other women hope and help to heal holistically too and I would love to connect with you!

"I worked out with Brea for several weeks to strengthen my body for a more regular running regimen. She is not only easy to interact with she is incredibly talented at what she does and knew exactly how to prepare me to meet my goals. I plan on regularly working with her to continue my strengthening and improve my overall health and lifestyle. When we train together I honestly feel like I'm hanging out with a friend, and not working out which often can feel like "work". I would highly recommend her services!"
